What to take for outdoors oil painting – special stuff
What to take for outdoors oil painting (part 2), summary
My personal set for en plein air painting is different from my standard set.
1. Canvas, glued on a hardboard in such way that it can fit in a wet panel holder
2. The wet panel holder
3. Old, worn out brushes
4. Two fan brushes and two bristle brushes (old and new)
5. Small palette knife
6. Small open oil cap
7. Titanium white, a violet (permanent violet medium), cobalt blue deep and cobalt blue light (one is redder and one is greener), a cold green blue (for example, phthalo green blue), a neutral green (for example, cobalt turquoise green), raw umber, red (for example, permanent madder brown), transparent yellow (for example, transparent oxide yellow), transparent yellow green, bright yellow (cobalt aureolin or indian yellow brown lake extra), rose quinacridone
8. A cap that protects your neck and ears
9. Multitool (set of instruments all-in-one, like a Swiss Army knife)
10. Small digital camera to remember the details later (to paint from a photo is bad, it doesn’t convey colors and tones as they should be)
11. Cold water in a small thermos (or hot tea)
